Anaphe silk is commonly produced in southern and central African countries. A silkworm from the anaphe genus spin cocoons in communes enclosed by a thin layer of silk. The fluff is spun into a raw silk that is normally soft and lustrous. A stronger and more elastic than mulberry silk, anaphe silk is used to make velvet and light seat covers.
